UPDATE: LG Company Recalls 500,000 Ranges After Fires, Injuries, And Pet Deaths.

We previously reported that LG Electronics is recalling approximately 500,000 ranges nationwide after dozens of fires caused property damage, injuries, and the deaths of pets, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recall involves ranges with front-mounted knobs that can be accidentally turned on. The CPSC has received 86 reports of unintentional activation, including 28 fires, five of which caused over $340,000 in property damage. Eight minor injuries, including burns, have been reported, and at least three fires resulted in pet deaths. The recalled ranges, sold at retailers including Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, and Lowe’s between 2015 and January 2025, retailed from $1,400 to $2,650. LG is offering free warning labels and instructions for placement, urging consumers to use the control lock function and keep children and pets away from the knobs. This recall follows a similar Samsung recall earlier this year for over 1.1 million ranges due to fire hazards. The CPSC is investigating accidental range activation incidents across multiple manufacturers, citing hundreds of incidents, including fatalities and injuries.
